Type the web address for Blackboard (http://blackboard.tees.ac.uk) into your browser and you will get the welcome page shown below.

To login to Blackboard enter your usernumber and password in the Login to E@T box on the left of the Welcome page - the same details as you use to access the University computer network. Then click Login.

If you don't have a usernumber or password go to your school help desk or follow the appropriate Helpdesk link from the Help tab to contact your school help desk.

Once you have successfully logged in, you will see your own personal home page.

Your Home page in Blackboard will show you a set of links which are relevant to you – for example any new announcements and links to your modules. If any of your modules or personal details are incorrect, you should contact your School admin office. Clicking the Home tab (or the home link in the top of every page) will always bring you back to this screen. The Help tab provides help information including help desk details, a browser tester and interactive help. Other tabs will also be available, such as the Library and Student Life - go and explore these sometime.

You can access the modules you are enrolled on from the list in My Modules on your Home page.

Clicking on the title of the module will take you to the resources for that module in Blackboard. You can also access your modules by switching to the Modules tab.

Important Note
Bear in mind that some staff may not be using Blackboard to support their teaching. A wide range of approaches to learning and teaching are in use at Teesside, the diversity of which helps to enrich the learning environment. Consequently not all of your modules may be available. Generally speaking if your module is being supported by Blackboard your tutor will tell you so. If in doubt ask.

Remember to click on Logout when you have finished using Blackboard. The button is always situated along the top of the screen.

• If you find that you are unable to view Office documents that have been placed on Blackboard and you do not have Microsoft Office software on the computer that you are using, you can download Microsoft's viewers from Microsoft's website.
• If you find that you cannot view .pdf (Adobe Acrobat) files you can download the reader freely from Adobe's website.
